Another fresh new year is here...
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest,
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!

We had a great time last night. Having friends over on New Years Eve is a great way to ring in the New Year. Most of the food turned out well, except for the pork roast which was so so. I got the cooking times from a recipe site on the internet but when we checked the temperature 45 minutes before it was due out of the oven it was already over-cooked! Darn. It was a bit dry, but still edible. Such a shame as it was a nice piece of meat. That will teach me to check the beast more often!

After everyone left we did some more cleanup and then watched old music videos on Much Music for a while, just to chill out before bed. It was a late night, so needless to say my brain is a bit muddy today.

The temperature is 5 C with rain and fog - strange for January 1st. It was dark and dreary in the house all day - perfect for curling up with a book on my new e-reader. We thought of taking the opportunity of the warm weather to have our supper in the camper (what a great way to start things off for our new life), but the combination of the late night and foggy, dark day sapped all energy so we stayed in and watched the Three Stooges instead - a pretty mindless alternative.

It was a late night even for little dogs

Thank you for having us over! We enjoyed the evening. And .... the pork roast was just fine!
